The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in relation to postponement of vinesh phogat Olympics appeal on his Olympic silver medal is still pending. Earlier, it was anticipated that the ruling would be out by Saturday at 9:30 PM IST. But it has been postponed.
The recent announcement stated that by Sunday (August 11), “the decision” will be made. At a later time, “reasoned order” will be issued. Inconsolable foe of the women’s 50kg free-style final disqualification, Vinesh Phogat filed an appeal with CAS against her disqualification from the event which found her to weigh more than allowed by just one hundred grams and thus disqualified her.

“On August 11, 2024, until Dr. Annabelle Bennett Honorable Judge alone, CAS Ad Hoc Division set up in India will render its award,” reads an Indian Olympic Association statement released today in New Delhi.
The decision is expected to come out only on August 13 two days after the end of Paris Games as per IOA source quoted by PTI news agency report.
Rei Higuchi who emerged as Olympic Champion from Japan supported Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat whom he felt was not supposed to be thrown out of the final match at Paris games due to weighing more than the required hundred grams. It is worth noting even now that three years ago during Tokyo Olympics qualifications; he won gold but was later disqualified for being fifty grams over weight in men freestyle category with (57 kg). This failure is personal since he lost a playoff contest when he was highly regarded and therefore couldn’t represent his country at home Olympics.

After Vinesh announced his retirement, Higuchi who defeated Aman Sehrawat from India in the 57kg freestyle final and won gold medal, posted on X: “Goodbye for now.”
Before striking gold in Paris, Higuchi took silver at the 2016 Rio games.
“However, I managed to emerge victorious out of adversity and despair thanks to my faith in myself. “Nevertheless, I don’t believe that only my efforts could have earned me gold medal,” he concluded Japan News’ interview regarding Tokyo failure which was attributed to his love for fast foods during those days.
