On Wednesday, Semiconductor; Singapore and India struck important Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on matters of digital technologies, semiconductor technologies, health cooperative engagement, and skill-building initiatives respectively. These agreements will enhance their existing relationships further.
The agreements were signed after bilateral meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a state visit to Singapore and his colleague Lawrence Wong.

Semiconductor ; What important Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Singapore and India?
The video explains how there was also a third memorandum of understanding between the Singaporean Ministry of Development Communications and India’s Ministry for Information Technology and Electronics. This would have enabled the two countries to collaborate more effectively not only in new areas of technology such as super-computing, quantum computing and artificial intelligence, and digital technology such as DPI, cyber-security and 5G, but also in the emerging technologies. Further, it would facilitate cooperation among those who wish to repurpose or enhance themselves for the digital economy.
The Electronics and Information Technology and Communications Ministry of India and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding about the semiconductor ecosystem partnership cooperation between the two nations. Under this agreement, there will be joint efforts between Singapore and India in the establishment of a semiconductor cluster and development of human capital required for the design and manufacturing of semiconductor devices. In addition, it will also facilitate the inflow of Singapore’s investment in Singapore better into India.
Semiconductor ; The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Singapore.
With a 10% share of the aggregate world chip production and a 20% share of the manufacture of the worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment, Singapore emerges as an important node in the world’s semiconductor supply chain.
Once again, The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Singapore in collaboration with Department Health and Family Welfare of India has signed another Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement will seek to promote further inter-institutional collaboration in the area of human resource development in the Pharmaceutical and Health care sector and joint activities in the fields of research and development in areas of common interest. Furthermore, this agreement will also support the efforts of New Delhi in promoting Indian Medical Personnel in Singapore.
Semiconductor ; The Ministry of Education from Singapore and the Ministry of Skill Development.
The Ministry of Education from Singapore and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India signed and sealed the final understanding on the educational Partnership and skills enhancement. This will help to back the ongoing positive skill development and seek to expand cooperation in the field of technical vocational education and training.
The parliament house of Singapore also receives Prime Minister Modi officially.
There were also some interactions between Lawrence Wong, counterpart to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and him.
In his very first address, Modi said that it`s not only that Singapore is a partner country but also an example for all the potential countries in the world.
“Now begins a new phase in relationships: a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is registered. Following their successful interaction in Singapore today, Prime Minister @narendramodi and Prime Minister @LawrenceWongST tweeted. Officials from MEA, including Randhir Jaiswal, made these remarks during the brief.
“All the Presidents were given their mandate and therefore they agreed to devote the relations on a Comprehensive Strategic Bond. Considerable time was spent by them on such sectors as advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalisation, healthcare & medicine, skills development and sustainability, he stated.
As soon as Modi landed in Singapore on Wednesday, Wong received Modi at Singapore’s Parliament House with ceremonial honours. Following this, he interacted with the delegates and ministers and signed a visitors book inside the Parliament House.
After attending lunch hosted by Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Modi will then join Singapore prime minister on a visit to AEM Holdings Ltd’s semiconductor factory. Next he will meet with the Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
Further, Modi is also expected to hold business meetings with business CEOs while in Singapore.
