Reetika Hooda is unique amongst Indian wrestlers participating in Paris Olympics 2024 because she was the first person from her country to qualify under heavyweight category of 76 kg. Also new to this weight group after competing at 72 kg last year before moving up,

The importance of maintaining weight within limits has been widely acknowledged with regards to Vinesh Phogat’s tragic failure at Paris Olympics 2024 due to obesity. However, Hooda’s experience is quite different as she needs to ensure that she eats very small portions all the time so that she remains above seventy-six kilograms and gains power.
Her body weight is about 74-75 kg when resting. It hasn’t been particularly tough—even now—to get to 72. Her body shape makes her weight to drop very fast.

“I just eat, workout, eat, exercise and repeat. This is certainly a protein-rich diet.” In an interview with PTI, Hooda said “I have a different type of struggle”.
“I have three meals a day and also snacking in between. I will still take something before going to bed. My mom prepares for me what my nutritionist Mitali tells me to consume.
“To ensure that I got enough proteins, I had to begin eating chicken. It was tough developing a taste for something new. Finally my mom settled on a somewhat gravy-like chicken by trying out different recipes. No one in my family eats chickens,” she added.
