Prime Minister took a swipe at Mamata Banerjee during his speech in Purulia and claimed that she was threatening these socio-religious organizations in order to “appease” TMC’s vote bank.
pm narendra modi PM Modi also condemned TMC’s acts as going “beyond any limits”.
“The Trinamool Congress, which has intimidated the people of Bengal by threatening them, has crossed all the limits this time. Iskcon, Ramakrishna Mission & Bharat Sevashram Sangh are known today in India and elsewhere in the world for their service & morality but CM of Bengal is openly threatening them from open platform…Threatening them just to appease their vote bank…” PM Modi said.
According to him, these associations have millions of followers across continents with their goal being service.
pm narendra modi So much courage! Just to please their vote back?” PM Modi told the gathering.
In yet another rally at Bishnupur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again slammed Mamata Banerjee saying that “she is under pressure from Muslim extremists” who have started speaking against saints and monks all over India.”
“Desperation is leading some leaders of TMC to abusive language against respectable organizations like Iskcon, Ramakrishna Mission or Bharat Sevashram Sangha.
Bengal will not be destroyed by these organisations. Our faith has been publicly humiliated by her because she thinks there is pressure on her from Muslim fundamentalists,” PM Modi said.
While addressing a public meeting at Jayrambati in Hoogly district, Mamata Banerjee named BSS monk, Kartik Maharaj (or Swami Pradiptananda).
She also spoke of RKM and “instructions (the order had got) from Delhi” during her speech.
“There is a maharaj in Behrampore; I have been hearing about him for a long time. Kartik Maharaj. Says he will not allow any TMC agent in the poll booth. I do not consider him a saint because he is directly involved in politics and is ruining the country, Mamata Banerjee said. “I used to respect Bharat Sevashram Sangha a lot. It has been on my list of respected organizations for a long time,” she added.
However, Banerjee clarified that some were “misbehaving not all”. “During the Left regime’s oppression in this area, I have huge respect for Jayrambati-Kamarpukur’s monks; you know how they helped people during that period,” she began telling before furthering on Ramakrishna Mission.
“I have seen how they have helped people during the Left regime’s oppression in this area. That is why I am saying they do a lot of work,” she said as she elaborated more on Ramakrishna Mission.
Following severe criticism by CM Mamata Banerjee and PM Narendra Modi’s disapproval of some remarks made by TMC chief, the religious bodies on Sunday said that they have always maintained a distance from political activity and that they never asked for votes on behalf of any candidate of any party.
“We are hurt and distraught at the allegations…we do not wish to be associated with any scandal…our premises are visited daily by thousands of people from all walks of life for prayers and meditation; including the PM and CM… everyone is treated equally here.” This was according to a senior monk at Ramakrishna Mission’s headquarters in Belur.
“We try to disseminate timeless lessons about religion and spiritualism among people. To my knowledge, the order has never advised anyone to vote for a particular political group,” he added.
“We have always responded during cyclones as well as COVID situations where we rushed aid to distant places.” A spokesperson for Bharat Sevashram Sangha stated.
We are 107-year old organization, our monks have charitable health clinics, hospitals, educational institutes across India. Nor had we ever dabble in politics nor will we do so in future.”
