The Australian Test captain, Pat Cummins will be taking an eight-week break to recharge his batteries before attempting to win the sought-after border-gavaskar trophy 2024 against India later in the year.
The captain of the Australian Test team, Pat Cummins, is on an eight-week break as he prepares himself to win the acclaimed Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India towards the end of this season. For him to manage his workaholism and take time off for physical development ahead of a packed summer period, Cummins had therefore not been included in their white-ball tour of UK after returning from USA where he played Major League Cricket for some time. Fox Sport quoted Cummins as saying, “everybody that comes back from a holiday feels a little bit fresher and you never regret it.”

border-gavaskar trophy 2024; Australia’s skipper has taken eight weeks off
The skipper of Australia’s test squad has taken eight weeks off in order to rejuvenate himself for winning the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy versus India at the end of this season. In order that he could manage his workload and spend some time on his body before a busy summer ahead, Cummins who only came back recently after his first Major League Cricket stint with USA side, was rested during England’s white-ball tour next month. “It means you can hopefully bowl for a little bit longer,” said he; “maintaining pace is a bit easier and makes you less susceptible to injuries.”
Since I bowled non-stop almost eighteen months ago (World Test Championship final), we have virtually been playing cricket all through except for 7 or 8 weeks when I am allowed not bowling so I can build up again. “It means you can hopefully bowl for a little bit longer,” said he; “maintaining pace is a bit easier and makes you less susceptible to injuries.”
After breaking his wrist at the end of Ashes series in England, Cummins had a very busy twelve months.
He featured in the Indian Premier League, T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, three Tests against Pakistan, two Tests against West Indies, T20 series against New Zealand, two more Tests against New Zealand, ODI World Cup campaign and MLC competition.
border-gavaskar trophy 2024; will be five tests long.
I am slightly achy today since I have worked out for a week. “…you can’t really nail it while you’re in the middle of the season.” The 31-year-old stated. “it’s just…hamstrings even ankles kind of build-up over months of bowling.”
“I’ll be doing lots of gym,” he continued. “Some running; a lot of rehab exercise that you just can’t really fit in the middle of the season.” This year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be five tests long. Losing all four consecutive series to India since 2017 including historic triumphs on Australian soil during 2018-19 and 2020-21 means Australia has yet to regain this trophy.
Furthermore, Cummins is motivated to win this summer as captain.
“It’s just one trophy I haven’t won before… this is one trophy for me that many in our group haven’t ticked off” said Cummins.
We have achieved some amazing things as a group of testers in the last few years. In all the home series you kind of backed yourself to win. This is because according to me you should be among the top teams.
This is what we will be doing this summer. India is one big positive. We also feel like we are incredibly well placed but then again, we play them a lot and know them very well,’ he said.
However, Cummins doesn’t intend to give up T20 cricket yet. He would love to see Australia take home gold in Los Angeles at the 2028 Summer Olympics when cricket will be played for the first time.
The whole world was excited about Olympics. That’s where one wants to be, in the center,” Cummins said.
“My prayer is that I could reach there (the LA28). I hope so by around 35 or something like that. “To tell you the truth, it appears so distant at present. As we get closer and start building towards it maybe everyone gets a bit more excited ” he said
