Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a reception at his residence in New Delhi on independence day to mark the Indian athletes who participated in the Olympics in Paris. PM Modi recognized the exceptional achievements of the Indian men’s hockey team including Sarabjot Singh, Aman Sehrawat and two-time Olympic champion Manu Bhaker. In the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official house, the Indian men’s hockey team gave him an autographed jersey as a present.

Sarabjot Singh also had an opportunity to speak with the PM after winning bronze in 10m air pistol mixed event with Bhaker. Moreover, Swapnil Kusale connected with the Prime Minister after getting a bronze medal in 50m rifle three position shooting.
Aman Sehrawat, who won a bronze medal for men’s freestyle at 57 kg, wore a jersey signed by the prime minister and posed happily beside him.
Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra managed to win silver and is now undergoing rehabilitation in Germany following the groin injury he suffered during Paris Games. He’s considering participating in more Diamond League Meetings that will take place on European soil.

PM Modi spoke to members of Indian contingent as well as held talks with athletes including Lakshya Sen – badminton player -during this meeting. Also present were Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, weightlifter and Lovlina Borgohain both medallist boxers at Tokyo Olympics games too.
The function was graced by PT Usha (Indian Olympic Association president) and Mansukh Mandaviya (sports minister).
